新概念第3册31课的3个问题,敬请高手解答.

这段时间背新概念的进度慢,看来自己确实有懈怠了,提3个问题:
1. They disregard social conventions without being conscious that they are doing anything exraordinary. 这个句子为什么要用anything,汉译时怎么译出这个anyting与something的区别?要我译就是:他们蔑视社会习俗,不知道在做一些出格的事情.
2. This exhibition received a great deal of attention in the press, for though the pictures were supposed to be the work of famous artists, they had in fact been drawn by Dickie. 这里work应改为works吧?
3. He wanted to buy a ￡300 watch for his wife. 我听读音是three hundred pound,这里是否是"300-pound",所以pound不用复数,这种用法有什么来头吗?愿闻其详.
这里其实还是有一些高手的,可惜人气不足,发发帖,热闹一下吧!

1. anything我會譯成「殊不知」，強調說話者幾分「訝異」的口吻。傳統文法認為anything不適用於肯定句，在此又找到了例外。此句若用something則完全無法表現出作者語氣當中的不認同。
2. 我同意此處work應為複數，指藝術家們的「眾多作品」。不知其他網友是否有其他解讀？
3. 300 pound watch中300pound是作形容詞用，不用複數。類似情況如a fourteen-year-old student, a 500-meter-tall skyscraper, etc.
